Exercise is a critical part of one’s overall health, but amongst busy schedules, it is difficult for people to incorporate fitness into their daily routines. Lincoln Technology is determined to change that. Starting Monday, Aug. 1, Lincoln Technology will be offering aerobics classes during lunch hour, and before and after work. The aerobics classes will be 30 minutes long, completely free of charge, and open to every staff member.
"We wanted to find a way to incorporate exercise into our work schedules, and what better way to do that than to bring the classes to us?” said Senior Vice President, Tony Roland. “Additionally, we wanted the classes to be free. None of our workers should have to pay out of pocket for something we feel so strongly about.”
To accomplish their goal, Lincoln Technology teamed up with local fitness company, In Shape who will provide the company with experienced aerobics instructors to lead the exercise sessions. “The classes will progress from beginner’s level to advanced exercises over time. We want everyone to be able to participate,” aerobics instructor Anna Miller, said. According to Miller, classes will focus on strengthening the muscles and improving circulation. Mostly, though, she wants employees to improve their overall health through exercise.
The announcement of free aerobics classes has staff members eager to join in on the action. “I can’t wait to start the classes,” employee Erica Benton, said. “We’re sitting down all day at our desks and when we go home, we just want to relax. It’s unhealthy to be off our feet for so long, and these aerobics classes will help change that.”
Fellow employee, Adam Cook, stresses the benefits of an affordable fitness routine. “Gym memberships can be expensive, so Lincoln providing us with free fitness classes is a blessing. I’m definitely going to participate.”
The first aerobics session will take place Monday, August 1st at 8:00 a.m. Though there is no cost, classes at each hour are limited, so it is recommended that those interested sign up ahead of time. Sign-up sheets are now available at the reception desk.
